Building a Strategic International Network: FITK IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Collaborates with AsiaCALL for the Syekh Nurjati International Research Symposium on Cyber Education
IAIN Syekh Nurjati—The Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training (FITK) at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon has reached an agreement with the Asia Association of Computer Assisted Language Learning (AsiaCALL) to organize the prestigious Syekh Nurjati International Research Symposium on Cyber Education, scheduled for June 2024. This agreement was formalized during an info session between Dr. H. Saifuddin, the Dean of FITK IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, and Prof. Andrew Lian, the President of AsiaCALL, facilitated by the International Office of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Thursday, (25/04/2024).
Prof. Andrew Lian holds professorship positions at three leading universities in Asia and Australia: Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Thailand; Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCO), Vietnam; and the University of Canberra (Australia). He is a pioneer in language learning technology since the 1980s when he was actively researching at the University of Queensland, Australia. He later moved to Bond University (Australia), James Cook University (Australia), the University of Canberra (Australia), and served as a professor at Rice University (USA) and Houston University (USA) before joining SUT Thailand. His expertise in neuroscience-based learning technologies will greatly benefit the development of Cyber Education concepts.
The upcoming event marks a significant milestone in FITK's efforts to expand its international network in education and technology. Collaborating with AsiaCALL, an international scholarly association known for its leadership in language education technology, reaffirms FITK's commitment to enhancing educational standards through modern technology. This year, AsiaCALL will host its 20th international conference and has indexed three journals: Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics (Scopus), World Journal of English Language (Scopus), and International Journal of TESOL & Education (WoS). This inaugural collaboration with AsiaCALL will pave the way for internationalizing FITK's journal projects in the near future.
The Syekh Nurjati International Research Symposium on Cyber Education is expected to serve as a platform for educators and practitioners from around the world to share knowledge, experiences, and innovations related to education in the digital age. It also opens possibilities for accelerating collaboration on international journal indexing through this academic event.
Both the Dean of FITK IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and the President of AsiaCALL are confident that this collaboration will bring substantial benefits, not only to their institutions but also to the broader educational community. By partnering with AsiaCALL, FITK aims to make significant contributions to the development of technology-based learning and the effective application of educational principles in the cyber context.
Participants are invited to join this event, either as speakers or active participants, to engage in deep discussions about the challenges and opportunities in cyber education today. FITK IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon believes that diversity of perspectives and cross-border collaboration will lead to innovative solutions that shape a more inclusive and dynamic future of education.
