Heading Towards International Classrooms: Prof. Dr. H. Aan Jaelani Leads Ambitious Plans for IAIN Cirebon
IAIN Cirebon – Professor Dr. H. Aan Jaelani, M.Ag, the Rector of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, led a strategic meeting that inspired the entire academic staff. The meeting, focused on "Designing International Classrooms for Study Programs," was held at the 3rd-floor Auditorium of the Rectorate on Monday, February 12, 2024.
The meeting was attended by Vice Rectors, the Head of the AUAK Bureau, Faculty Deans, the Director of the Graduate School, Vice Deans for Academic Affairs of the Faculties, Department Chairs, Department Secretaries, Chairs and Secretaries of LPM (Institute for Research and Community Service), Chairs and Secretaries of LPPM (Institute for Research and Community Service), the Head of the Language Development Center, the Director of the International Office, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Academic Service Subdivisions.
Professor Aan emphasized the importance of seriously preparing for international classes in his address. "There is already a performance agreement between the Rector and the Director, and one of them is the international class program. This will be followed up in future RAKERPIM activities," stated Professor Aan.
He explained that the design and model in the international learning guidelines are significant outcomes of this initiative. "We need to strengthen ourselves to compete with other Islamic State Universities (PTKIN). The main target is to focus on several study programs that will be elevated to international class status, with MoUs referring to the agreed performance," Professor Aan asserted.
Professor Aan also discussed internship programs and MBKM, emphasizing the importance of understanding in accordance with accreditation instruments and technical guidance supporting international activities. Regarding Community Service (PKM), Professor Aan emphasized the need for proper coordination and compliance with regulations, considering the establishment by faculties to designate specific study programs as international classes.
Meanwhile, Lala Bumela, Ph.D., Head of the International Office, provided information on Mosma at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia as a crucial reference in developing international classes. She highlighted the preparation of department chairs and secretaries in preparing students for bilingual programs, focusing on meeting the needs of foreign students.
"The support of cooperation with cyber-supporting institutions and language advancement is key to campus language development. Collaboration with foreign campuses and mapping activities at faculties can lead IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon towards high-quality international classes," added Lala.
This meeting created an atmosphere of optimism and collaborative spirit among IAIN Cirebon academics, marking a significant step in facing global challenges and opening broader opportunities for the academic advancement of the campus.
