Historic Launch: Minister of Religious Affairs Unveils Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati and SBSN Building
UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati—In a historic moment, Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas inaugurated the SBSN Building and officially launched Universitas Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, on Thursday (October 17th, 2024). The event was also attended by the Rector of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati, Prof. Dr. Hj. Aan Jaelani, the Director General of Islamic Education, Prof. Abu Rokhmad, the Special Staff and Expert Advisors to the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Director of Islamic Higher Education, the Acting Mayor of Cirebon, and the academic community of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.
The event marked a new chapter for higher education in Indonesia, particularly through the signing of the SBSN Building plaque, funded by the Surat Berharga Syariah Negara (SBSN). The International Office and Partnership of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati fully supported the event, aligning with its mission to strengthen international collaborations and expand global partnerships.
The launch of Universitas Siber Syekh Nurjati, the result of a four-year process, was recognized by the Minister as a strategic initiative to address the challenges of the digital era. The Minister also highlighted the importance of adapting quickly to technological advancements. "The Rector has shared many achievements that have already been made. I urge you not to stop here because digital technology moves faster than we think, so we must keep pace," he added. The International Office and Partnership has been instrumental in accelerating educational technology innovation through meaningful international collaborations that benefit the university’s growth.
As Indonesia’s first Cyber Islamic University (CIU), Universitas Siber Syekh Nurjati aims to provide affordable and accessible education, especially for madrasa teachers and Islamic boarding school students. The Minister expressed confidence that this university will become a top choice for the future. "In the coming years, UIN Siber will be a preferred option for our children, not just for madrasa graduates and Islamic boarding school students," he said. The International Office and Partnership plays a key role in expanding the university’s global reach through academic exchanges and international partnership programs.
With the inauguration of the SBSN Building and the launch of Universitas Siber Syekh Nurjati, the International Office and Partnership is committed to strengthening international networks, ensuring the university's competitiveness on the global stage, and creating new opportunities for students and academics to thrive in the digital age.
