Moving Forward Together: IAIN Cirebon and SEAQIL Agree to Forge a Strategic Collaboration for Academic Transformation

On Thursday, January 11, 2024, the International Office of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon facilitated a strategic virtual meeting with SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL). The online session was attended by representatives from IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, led by the Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., and the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hajam, M.Ag. Also present were deans, vice deans, and faculty members.


During the meeting, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon conveyed their intention to establish collaboration supported by SEAQIL. This partnership encompasses activities that support the three pillars of higher education, aligning with efforts to transform the institution into Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon State Islamic University (UIN SSC).

Prof. Dr. Hajam, M.Ag, Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Cooperation, expressed hopes that this collaboration would yield significant benefits for both parties. Acting Director of SEAQIL, Prof. Dian Dia-an Muniroh, Ph.D., welcomed the initiative for collaboration and affirmed readiness to contribute to enhancing education and culture in the Southeast Asian region.


In her presentation, Dr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Director of the International Office, outlined the profile of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, emphasizing that collaboration with SEAQIL represents a positive step toward supporting the institution's vision to become a leading Siberian Islamic University en route to a World-Class University for All by 2030.

Meanwhile, Dr. Misbah Fikrianto, M.M., M.Si., Director of Administration at SEAQIL, provided an overview of SEAQIL and highlighted the alignment of goals between the two institutions, focusing on enhancing education and culture in Southeast Asia.


During this audience, SEAQIL encouraged IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon to explore collaborations with other SEAMEO centers, emphasizing the importance of involving experts from IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon in SEAQIL's activities. There was also a focus on cooperation in technology, the development of Learning Management Systems (LMS), and educational service applications, aligning with the ongoing digital transformation at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.

As a follow-up step, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and SEAQIL plan to sign a cooperation agreement covering the three pillars of higher education and begin implementing initial collaboration in the third week of February 2024. Additionally, from the outcomes of this audience, it was revealed that IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon intends to explore further collaborations with SEAMEO QITEP in Science (SEAQIS).
