Stepping into a New World: IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Towards Internationalization through Collaboration with Germany

IAIN CirebonDirector of Global Katalyst, Doddy Primanda Kadarsiman, visited IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon to strengthen collaboration between the institution and Germany in the industrial sector. This visit aimed to explore partnership opportunities that could enhance the internationalization of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and prepare its graduates for careers in Germany through the Ausbildung program. The meeting between the Director of Global Katalyst ev. Germany and representatives from IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon marks a concrete step towards forging mutually beneficial cooperation. During the meeting, various strategies and programs were discussed to facilitate IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon students' participation in the Ausbildung program in Germany.

The success of this collaboration is expected to open doors for IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon students to gain practical experience and relevant knowledge in the German industry. This will provide them with a competitive edge in the job market, particularly on an international scale.

IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon warmly welcomes this cooperation initiative as part of their efforts to enhance educational quality and prepare their graduates to meet global challenges. With this collaboration in place, it is anticipated that more opportunities will arise for students to develop their potential at an international level.

The meeting was facilitated by the International Office of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon in collaboration with the Career Guidance Center, represented by Wahyono, M.Pd.I. It was attended by Vice Rector III of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hajam, M.Ag., as well as leaders and representatives from UIBBC Cirebon, IAIC, UNISA Kuningan, and vocational schools in Region 3 of Cirebon.

Director of the International Office, Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of internationalization in graduate employment, noting that a hallmark of a 21st-century campus is its ability to systematically promote its graduates for studies and careers abroad. She also announced that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Katalyst ev. Germany will open numerous opportunities for international cooperation with Germany and other European countries. The MoU with Global Katalyst ev. Germany is scheduled for mid-May, and in July, a MoU with the German government will be signed in the Black Forest region of Germany. A return visit by the German government to IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon is planned for August 2024.

Furthermore, the Director of Global Katalyst ev. Germany informed that he and his team based in Stuttgart are collaborating with the German government to establish four pilot international schools in Aceh, Medan, Bogor, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). These schools will adopt German curriculum and quality standards but with significantly lower costs accessible to the Indonesian population, preparing graduates for study and work in Germany. The possibility of collaboration in recruiting school principals and teachers for these four schools will be offered to IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon as the main partner of Global Katalyst ev. Germany in West Java.

Through these two international MoUs, the Director of Global Katalyst ev. Germany announced that IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon will be designated as the International Test Centre for the German language in West Java, catering to anyone interested in studying and working in Germany. Additionally, the campus will serve as a gateway to other campuses in West Java and surrounding areas for industrial partnership programs with Germany, a leading global industrial powerhouse with the highest net export status worldwide.

Concrete steps will soon be taken to implement this cooperation, including the development of specific programs, formation of working teams, and dissemination of information to students. All parties are optimistic that this collaboration will bring significant benefits for the educational and career development of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon students in the future.
