UINSSC's Global Collaborative Program: A Groundbreaking Partnership with Polri and Immigration
The event began with a warm welcome from Mr. Lala Bumela Sudimantara, Ph.D. as the director of International Office and Partnership, who highlighted the importance of fostering strong international connections through education. He emphasized UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati's firm commitment to creating an inclusive academic environment, not only for local students but also for international students. “We offer international students the opportunity to learn Indonesian Language while pursuing their academic programs, so they can adapt well and become active members of our campus community,” he stated.
Prof. Dr. Hajam, M.Ag as the vice rector III of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, in his speech, stressed the importance of strategic planning to establish UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati as a globally recognized university. He shared that one of the major steps taken was signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany, opening opportunities for UIN Syekh Nurjati students to work and study in Europe. “Germany is currently facing a labor shortage, and this is a golden opportunity for students to fill those gaps. We hope students can seize this opportunity to further their education abroad. As an inspiring message, ‘If you want to see a large Muslim population, look at Indonesia. But if you want to see Islamic laws being implemented, look at Europe’,” he explained.
The event also featured a presentation from representatives of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Mr. Agus Budiarto, S.H., and Mr. Eko, who discussed the crucial role of intelligence in maintaining national security. They explained how effective intelligence operations are essential for monitoring and supervising foreign nationals, ensuring that potential security threats are identified and addressed proactively. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of coordination between various government agencies, highlighting that close collaboration is vital, particularly during events involving international students, to maintain public safety and security.
Additionally, the Cirebon Immigration Office, represented by Mr. Fikri Rahmat Fadilah, S.TR.IM, the first expert immigration analyst, provided valuable information on immigration regulations, including how to apply for a limited stay visa, which can now be processed online. “We strive to make administrative processes easier for international students, allowing them to focus more on their studies without administrative obstacles,” he said. He also encouraged students to reach out to the immigration office for assistance, ensuring that they have the support needed to navigate the visa process smoothly and efficiently.
The participants also had the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion where they shared insights and expanded their networks. The discussion covered various topics related to international cooperation, global education, and the challenges faced by international students in Indonesia. The event provided a platform for cross-cultural exchange and opened new opportunities in the field of education.
The first day of the event successfully fostered an atmosphere of collaboration and constructive dialogue, with the aim of strengthening UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati’s international relations and having a positive impact on the development of higher education.
