Virtual Meeting between IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM): A First Step Towards Meaningful Collaboration
IAIN Cirebon – On Friday, April 5, 2024, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held a significant virtual meeting with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). This meeting was initiated by the International Office of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, building upon previous discussions between the Department of Islamic Theology and Philosophy at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab and IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, with the goal of exploring opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration.
The exploratory meeting for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was attended by Dr. Fauziah Hasan, the Director of the International Center at USIM, and several lecturers from the Department of Akidah and Islamic Studies at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. Also present at the meeting were Dr. Anwar Sanusi, M.Ag., the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Adab at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon; the Head and Secretary of the Department of Islamic Philosophy and Theology at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon; and the faculty members of the Islamic Philosophy and Theology Department. The session was moderated by Ema Wilianti Dewi, M.Pd. from the International Office at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.
The discussions during the meeting focused on plans for collaboration in various aspects, including education, research, and teaching between the two institutions. A draft MoU will be prepared as an initial step toward establishing a more concrete and binding framework for cooperation.
“We will design a draft MoU that will serve as the foundation for the collaboration between IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. This partnership is expected to bring substantial benefits to both institutions and to the wider community,” said Dr. Fauziah Hasan.
Furthermore, as the beginning of the planned cooperation, there will be an online visiting lecturer session where faculty members from both institutions will share knowledge and experiences in relevant fields of study. This collaboration between IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia is anticipated to open new opportunities for educational and research development at both institutions, as well as strengthen international cooperative networks. Additionally, the MoU with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia will create significant opportunities for international collaboration with other departments at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.
